We at Daisy Hill LOVE our aussies as you can probably tell! But, we wanted everyone to get some input from the families that actually own some of our puppies so we've started this new page. We welcome everyone that has one of our pups to submit their input on what life is like with their Daisy Hill Aussie!
An nice note from Amy who has a Willow and River boy:
Hi Emily!
I just wanted to update you on how Luca is doing. :) He is a HUGE sweetie and everyone that meets him melts into a puddle at the sight of him. I cannot tell you how happy I am that we got Luca. I know I made the choice, but I think he equally chose us!
Yesterday was his first visit to our local vet. The nurses behind the main desk crowded around to look at him and say hi. I did as you suggested in your puppy tips and carried him in. I also brought an old soft towel to put on the examination table. He was so incredibly well behaved! I couldn't believe it. Never even whimpered in front of the doctor -- not even when they stuck a thermometer in his you-know-what! Stayed perfectly still for everything and even fell asleep half way through. All the other visitors to the vet today (staff and patients alike) kept asking how old he was, what breed he was, and how big he would get. Someone even thought he was a Bernese! The vet told me she simply couldn't find anything wrong with him and was impressed that both his testicles had dropped. I received a Interceptor kit for heartworm protection as well as K9 Advantix II for tick/flea prevention. I was told that Luca's stool sample did turn up positive for roundworms, so I'm glad I checked and we'll make sure he gets the treatment he needs.
Luca is the perfect puppy for our family. He is mellow and sweet, but definitely has his hyper points! I've introduced him to our backyard and he's quite the little explorer. The first two days, he was very shy and cautious, but now he's already king of the yard and fearlessly runs around. We've developed two great games that we love to play together. One is where I run across the yard and call to him to come. It's so cute watching him gallop and pounce with all his might to come meet me. I reward him with belly rubs and lots of praise! The other game is where we run around his play pen (we set one up for him outside) and he tries to catch up to me. Often we're staring at each other from across the pen trying to see who'll move in which direction! He's just so smart. I love him to pieces!!
We are working on the housebreaking and have only had accidents on his first day home. After that, he has been really good about eliminating outside and peeing on the newspaper if necessary. He's such a little darling. He's also gotten used to his collar (we got him a puppy appropriate one) and we'll probably introduce him to the leash soon too. I'm so amazed at how well behaved he always is. He only cried twice on his first night home. We let him out to do his business and then he went back to sleep. The second night, he didn't cry at all! I checked in the morning around 6:30AM and he didn't go in his crate so I know he was holding it in like a good boy. Same with the 3rd night, no crying and no eliminating in the house. Everyone I tell is amazed -- it's practically unheard of for such perfect puppy behavior apparently!
I cannot thank you enough for such a perfect puppy! My family is so in love with him and he just melts my heart every time he looks at me with those bright little eyes and perky eyebrows! Luca Chance -- the eyebrow king! LOL
I know his gentle and calm temperament is the result of the dedication that you and Karen put into your dogs. I'll be sure to update you with more news soon!
Warmest Regards,
Amy
An email from Krista and Rob about their new pup Loki (River & Willow's boy)

Hi Emily! Long e-mail incoming LOL I promise they'll get shorter, so sorry!
As you already know we have a very healthy puppy on our hands! Loki went to the vet last night and the vet said he's in great health.. No heart murmurs, his lungs are clear, etcetc. The vet seem impressed by the shape he was in and by what we told him about his behavior at home.. Plus he was very calm as the vet examined him, he actually fell asleep on the table. The vet was also shocked that both his testicles have already dropped -- He said sometimes in males they never do and they have to perform surgery to find/remove them when neutering. Also, he gave us his first dose of Interceptor to give to him. They're going to start him on Vectra soon, which is a similar treatment to Frontline. We're going to work out a schedule for his vaccines and shots with them as well. The vet assistants/receptionists LOVED him, btw! The second we walked in they were like "Oh myy godddd!" and each wanted to hold him. One person that came in was like "Oh, is that one of the ones for adoption?!" since he was still being held behind the main desk. Nope, he's our boy! Also.. He's 6 pounds!! Sheesh, little meatball is right! I was outside with him yesterday and was called over by the neighbors across the street.. I held him the whole time and he was a little nervous, but he didn't mind being pet and gave licks. It looks like his socializing has already begun!
He's just doing great all around! He's SO playful and gets hyper sometimes.. But he can also be pretty mellow. He's very comfortable and secure with Rob and myself, especially in our bedroom. He's a little nervous downstairs with the family but he's getting more comfortable each time we bring him down. We think in a week or so he'll realize that's part of his home as well. He also loves his crate and will just hang out in it sometimes or go in there on his own for his naps.. Sometimes he'll fall asleep next to one of us and we'll gently put him in there, and he just gets comfy and passes out.
He naps all day on and off but we've made his bedtime 9:00PMish. The first night, you won't believe it, but he was an angel! He went to bed peacefully and then we heard him moving around at 1ish.. Rob took him outside and he went potty. He went back to bed and didn't wake up again until 4:30.. Whimpered for a few seconds and stopped as soon as he saw me get up. He went potty, we played for a little bit, then he went back to sleep until 7. The past two nights have been even better.. Both nights were pretty identical. Went to bed at 9:00.. Woke up at 11:15 PM the second night, 11:30 PM the third night.. Went to the bathroom.. Back to bed after 10 minutes of play then both nights he didn't wake up again until 5:00-5:15am. Potty, a little bit of play, and then didn't wake up for the day until 8:45-9:00am both days! He has only really -cried- once about being in his crate, but stopped quickly with your tip! He's also only had a few pee accidents on the rug and each were our fault. He hasn't 'eliminated' /once/ inside the house.. not even on paper! He's done that business outside each and every time he's gone! His bedding is never wet when I check it after letting him out of his crate.. He's just such a good boy! We love him so much and are really happy. He seems to be adapting really fast, too. I'm sure everyone feels this way but we think we got the best puppy out of the litter LOL We couldn't of picked better! He's so perfect - sweet and playful, and just so beautiful. We thought these first days would be much more challenging!
Photos aren't that great because they were taken with a phone.. We're buying a camera just for him. Also.. We're going to get his fence up this weekend. At first we were letting him go outside off lead since he would just stay within a couple feet of us and needed us in his sight.. but now he's so daring and brave! He just runs around like a little maniac.. We're keeping him in his harness and on a 30ft leash now. I originally got it to help with training outside, but it's been great for keeping him from going too far while still giving him all the slack he needs to run and play.
Again, thanks so much to the both of you! In our eyes, he's the best little puppy in the world!
An email from a wonderful couple that has a River/Willow pup
Hey Emily!
Today is Rivers second day with us and I cant even express to you how much love she brings to our home! Our trip went smoothly, she is the happiest little girl and slept the majority of the ride! :) Sorry for not getting back to you right away, its been fun just playing with her every minute and getting her settled in. She loves to play! She is a very good puppy, wonderful disposition and kisses are something she gets tons of. She sleeps through the night without crying in her kennel and so far no poops in the house just little piddles, lol! She is eager to please, fast learning and her first vet appointment is tomorrow at 12:00. We just love her so much, thankyou both for her and for everything youve done for us! You really breed amazing dogs! The puppy bag was so cute, we have some of her baby pictures in frames around the house already :) Pictures are something we've taken ALOT of since Saturday. I will attach a few from my cell phone and their mostly of her just sleeping but once I get a chance to upload some more from our nice camera I will be sure to send those to you as well :)
We will be sure to keep in touch!
talk to you soon,
Lisa
Here is a note from a family that has one of Rosi and Swagger's kids!
Hi Emily:
Things are going great!!! Ember Cayenne Brice (we kept her original name as her middle name) is such a doll baby! Hachi just loves her, however, we are only allowing minimum physical contact since she is so small and he is 4 times her size and plays pretty rough. Once she is bigger and he understands how to play with a puppy younger then he is, we will allow more interaction. She made the cutest pumpkin on halloween and the trick or treaters asked if they could have her and we said, thank you and noooooooooooooooooo! Ember is sleeping though the night, crying is at a minimum. She is eating and drinking well, knows how to give her paw and understands what "no" means. She is as smart as she is beautiful. Loves everyone but seems to have an extra sparkle in her eye for my husband Ray. She has us laughing when she gives Hachi heck when he is barking to much and he looks at her like - your a sassy little chick! LOL.
We know that Ember is the way she is, because of you and Karen. Thank you so much for such a healthy, smart and beautiful little furchild. Please keep me posted on when the Too Cute episode airs. I will keep you up to date on Ember and will send pix.
Here is a note from a family that has 2 of Willow & River's kids!
Hello Daisy Hill Family!
I just wanted to send an e-mail to thank you for our 2 wonderful Aussies- Mick and Roo. Words cannot express how truly blessed we are to have them in our lives. Our days are filled with constant excitement and energy. They are hilarious and always do something to make us all laugh out loud. We have been able to play "fetch" with Mick...who is a star! He jumps wicked high in the air to catch the tennis balls. He learned the concept of bringing the ball back and could play for hours. Roo is a character. It's possible he could keep up with a cheetah..he is SOOOOO fast! He brings the ball back when HE feels like it and sometimes to keep it from his brother he sits on top of it and smiles. His smile is contagious! We are working with Roo to get him to bring the ball back ALL the time but we are having a blast in the process. They are both stunning and very obedient! People comment all the time on how gorgeous and well behaved they are. They have several dog friends in our neighborhood that love to stop by and play. The UPS delivery man even brings them treats every time he comes by. They are a big hit with everyone! I don't think it's possible to have 2 more loving dogs than Mick and Roo. You probably hear this a lot, but they are seriously the best! They fit perfectly in our family and we can't thank you enough!
Attached are some pictures..enjoy!
We hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!
